ABSTRACT

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) through outreach activities has become an important business objective for different companies in all industries. It is not enough for the company to have goals in helping the community, they should also be able to make employees be committed in participating in their programs. This research has studied the motivational elements that can drive employees to participate in the organization’s outreach activities. Employee participation enables employees to perceive the values of the organization which lead to employees to have higher morale, self-esteem, and fulfillment of their own needs and share values with their organization. The descriptive survey method was adopted by using a survey questionnaire and distributed by using Google forms. The researchers considered all employees of the University of Baguio both teaching and non-teaching personnel which in turn resulted to sixty-four (64) respondents. The weighted mean and the t-test were utilized in treating the data. Among the three motivational elements, the direction element has been identified as the element that can greatly affect the participation of the University’s employees. While, the intensity element was considered as the least motivational element that has impacted the participation of the employees of the University. The same results were derived considering the two moderator variables, gender and civil status. There are no significant differences in the motivational elements considering gender and civil status in the study. In conclusion, employees are motivated to join outreach activities organized by the University despite certain differences according to characteristics, preferences and priorities in their personal and work activities. The recommendations were focused on maintaining and increasing the motivational level of the employees of University of Baguio considering employee recognition and involvement.
