ABSTRACT
Barangays are the basic political unit of the country. As the basic political unit, it serves as the primary planning and implementing element of the government policies, plans, programs, projects, and activities in the community, and a forum wherein the collective views of people may be expressed, considered, and where disputes may be settled. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, raising issues in the barangay has become a tedious job for residents. Currently, the barangays do not have a system specifically for addressing the barangay’s environmental issues. The residents only report through spoken communication. With this in mind, the researchers developed Barangay Aide; An Environmental Helping Hand, a reports management system. Barangay Aide is a web and mobile-based application that helps lessen the inconvenience of reporting simple environmental issues in the barangay. It is the bridge between the community and the officials. The application has two modules, the barangay module, and the residents module. The barangay module is utilized by barangay officials. The main functions of the barangay module is accepting or rejecting submitted complaints and resolving them. On the other hand, the main function of the residents’ module is submitting complaints.
