Development and training needs analysis of the University of Baguio faculty

ABSTRACT

This study was undertaken to look into the University of Baguio faculty members’ training and development needs from primary education to graduate school. This study intends to use the results to develop Faculty Development Plans. The research used the descriptive survey method through a validated survey questionnaire to gather data from all the university’s identified teachers during the first semester of the school year 2019-2020. Two hundred-one out of the total of 389 teachers willingly participated in the study. The researchers were able to find out that all the faculty members need faculty development support in all areas: Research Competencies, Health and Safety, Community Extension Services, Administrative Skills, Personal Development, Communication Skills, and Customer Service. The top three in order are Research Competencies, Health and Safety, Community Extension Services. The study further shows that respondents are very motivated to excel by providing more professional development opportunities like scholarships and training.
