RIECO Hosts Upskilling 2026 for STELA and SCJPS

The Research Innovation Extension and Community Outreach (RIECO) of the University of Baguio successfully conducted Upskilling 2026 for the Schools of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (STELA) and Criminal Justice and Public Safety (SCJPS), reinforcing the institution’s commitment to continuous professional development and research excellence.

The event gathered 102 faculty members from both schools in a collaborative learning environment aimed at enhancing research capability, instructional innovation, and community engagement strategies. Attaining SDG 4: Quality Education, the Upskilling served as a platform to strengthen competencies aligned with emerging academic standards and evolving industry demands.

 

The program featured distinguished keynote speakers Mr. Miguel Villacrusis and Dr. Marilou Saong, who shared valuable insights on advancing scholarly productivity and fostering transformative educational practices.

Mr. Villacrusis emphasized the importance of adaptive research frameworks and data-driven instruction in addressing contemporary societal challenges. He highlighted how interdisciplinary collaboration and strategic publication efforts can elevate both faculty impact and institutional visibility.

Meanwhile, Dr. Saong underscored the significance of reflective practice, ethical scholarship, and community-responsive initiatives. She encouraged participants to integrate innovation into curriculum design and research development, ensuring that academic outputs remain relevant and socially responsive.

Throughout the session, participants engaged in discussions and workshops focused on research enhancement, publication strategies, and strengthening extension initiatives. The upskilling concluded with renewed commitment from STELA and SCJPS faculty to implement learned strategies within their respective programs, contributing to the University of Baguio’s vision of producing transformative education grounded in research and innovation.
