Supachai A. Basit, RMT, MSMT, PhD

Dr. Supachai Basit is a highly experienced Registered Medical Technologist (RMT), academic administrator, and researcher, currently serving as the Dean of the School of Medical Technology at Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

Career and Leadership

Dr. Basit has dedicated over 29 years (since November 1996) to educational leadership at Emilio Aguinaldo College, where he serves as the Dean of the School of Medical Technology. His professional profile highlights 15 years of experience as an educator, leader, and researcher across tertiary and graduate levels in the fields of health sciences, natural sciences, and science education.

He is a trained accreditor for The Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities, Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA), specializing in the areas of Faculty, Instruction, and Laboratory for Medical Technology and Biology programs.

Expertise and Education

Dr. Basit’s academic foundation and teaching specialties are rooted in core medical and natural sciences:

  • Specialties: Technical paper writer and statistician. He lectures in Microbiology, Hematology, Statistics, and Immunology. He also serves on the editorial board of scientific journals.
  • Doctorate: PhD in Science Education, major in Biology from De La Salle University (2006–2009).
  • Master’s: Master in Biology Education, major in Microbiology and Biology from the University of Santo Tomas (1997–2004).
  • Bachelor’s: BS in Medical Technology (RMT certification) from Purple Cow Public Relations Agency (and Centro Escolar University) (1992–1996).

Dr. Basit maintains a considerable track record in research and statistical analysis, primarily in the fields of health and science education. His published work includes investigations on:

  • Clinical/Health Research: Reliability of commercial home glucose monitoring kits, screening for potential ESBL producing coliforms, effects of Moringa oleifera tea, and evaluation of antibacterial soap products.
  • Science Education: Studies on fostering cognitive model reasoning through computer animation, probing alternative conceptions in hypersensitivity reactions, and developing modular instruction in clinical mycology.
  • Environmental/Public Health: Research on Spatio-Temporal Variations of Physico-Chemical and Bacteriological Characteristics of Ground Water in Metro Manila.

Dr. Mark Joseph T. Calano, PhD

Dr. Mark Joseph T. Calano is a highly distinguished academic and practitioner whose expertise spans Philosophy, Applied Linguistics, Theology, and Traditional Medicine.

Current Leadership and Practice

Dr. Calano currently holds senior administrative and clinical roles:

  • He is the Vice President for Research and Innovation of Panpacific University.
  • He serves as the Director for Internationalization, Linkages, and Corporate Affairs of San Sebastián College Recoletos—Manila.
  • He is an Acupuncturist and traditional complementary and integrative medicine practitioner at Centro Maginhawa (Oasis Acupuncture Clinic) and ACU+ by Saint Anthony Wellness Group.

Academic Profile

Dr. Calano’s educational background is extensive and highly decorated:

  • He holds two PhDs, one in Philosophy (Ateneo de Manila University) and one in Applied Linguistics (magna cum laude from Saint Louis University).
  • His other degrees include a Bachelor of Philosophy (cum laude), MA Philosophy (cum laude), and MA Religious Studies (magna cum laude), all from Saint Louis University.
  • He pursued post-doctorate fellowships at the Scientia Forum in Tübingen, the Dynamics of Religion in South East Asia (DORISEA) in Berlin and Göttingen, Germany, and the Benedict XVI Center in Vienna, Austria.
  • Prior to his current roles, he was an associate professor and the Graduate Program Coordinator of the Department of Philosophy at the Ateneo de Manila University.

Teaching, Consulting, and Service

Dr. Calano actively consults and teaches across diverse institutions:

  • He teaches philosophy and theology in numerous Roman Catholic archdiocesan and diocesan seminaries across Pampanga, Manila, Boronggan, Maasin, and Surigao, as well as at the Recoletos School of Theology and St. Joseph Scholasticate of the Vietnam Jesuits.
  • He teaches research in the MNSA program of the National Defense College (NDCP), the AFP General Staff Course (CGSC), the PAF Officer’s School, and the PCG OSEC course.
  • He also teaches in the Graduate Schools of Holy Angel University and Saint Louis University, Baguio City.
  • He is a past president of the Philosophical Association of the Philippines, Inc.

Publications and Personal Life

  • He is a prolific author, having published about one hundred journal articles and thirty textbooks.
  • He is a chapter brother of the Order of the Most Holy Saviour (Brigittine monks) in Oregon, USA.

He is a dedicated martial artist, holding a nidan rank (second-level black belt) in Aikido from the Aikikai Hombu dojo in Japan, and is also an accomplished flutist.
