Abstract

This study focused on the career profile of the College of Dentistry graduates of Lyceum–Northwestern University from 2014 to 2017. The study utilized the descriptive research design. Two sets of data gathering tools were used: a questionnaire and an interview guide. Of the 102 graduates of batches 2014–2017, 60 percent participated in the study. The graduates of the College of Dentistry of Lyceum – Northwestern University batches 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017, manifested a satisfied workforce of practicing dentists, majority of which are female and located in Pangasinan. The educational and employment status of the L-NU alumni dentists reflects that there is a positive match between their educational training and employment status. They are challenged to pursue their dentistry career with perseverance and hard work. The career development of the graduates was strongly influenced by their family experiences, coupled with equally strong influences of their school experiences. Their friends/peers and personal experiences helped them in meeting the challenges of the dental profession. As practicing dentists, the L-NU graduates were equipped with relevant skills and work values, particularly in the use of clinical equipment, perseverance, and hard work. Establishing their clinic and developing their dental practice motivate for the graduates to carry on despite struggles and difficulties they encounter in their career. The graduates strive to continue pursuing their professional growth and development in their career as dentists.
