University of Baguio Gives Inspiration, Fellowship and True Service

The Season of Giving starts with UB G.I.F.T.S.

"... a platform for meaningful engagement between the University and its partner communities

The UB GIFTS is an annual outreach initiative spearheaded by the Research Innovation, Extension, and Community Outreach (RIECO) Office. Rooted in the University’s commitment to holistic education and community empowerment, UB GIFTS serves as a platform for meaningful engagement between the University and its partner communities. The program highlights the University’s mission of extending knowledge and service beyond the campus, fostering shared growth through education, advocacy, and collaboration.

For this year’s implementation, the activity will be held on November 15, 2025, at the UB Gymnasium, bringing together the UB Management Team, and community representatives including Barangay Officials and Functionaries of Pinsao Proper, Teachers (Lindawan Elementary School and Lindawan National High School), and Members of the VIPPD (Visually Impaired Positive and Progressive Dreamers).

Through this gathering, UB GIFTS continues to strengthen the University’s partnership with its stakeholders by addressing relevant social and developmental concerns.

This year’s theme highlights collective responsibility toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To achieve this, a series of lectures and discussions will be conducted, focusing on community-suggested topics such as:

  1. Promoting Community Resilience and Environmental Health through the Spirit of Bayanihan – emphasizing clean-up and anti-dengue drives as preventive health measures and environmental initiatives.
  2. Empowering Women, Solo Parents, and Persons with Disabilities toward Inclusive Community Development – promoting gender equality, inclusivity, and livelihood opportunities for marginalized sectors.
  3. Bridging Educational Gaps: A Community Initiative toward the Eradication of Out-of-School Youth – addressing barriers to education and promoting lifelong learning and employability.

The objectives of UB GIFTS are as follows:

  • To strengthen the University’s community engagement through meaningful partnerships and responsive outreach initiatives.
  • To empower community members by providing knowledge-based and skill-oriented lectures aligned with their identified needs.
  • To contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).

Through UB GIFTS, the University of Baguio continues to demonstrate its dedication to education with a social conscience, fostering a culture of service, compassion, and collective growth, true to its vision of developing responsible individuals who make significant contributions to society.
