Best Health Student Research

The Best Health Student Research on its 3rd year is a proof of UB’s serious action of attaining its purpose of encouragingIMG_4804 and enhancing research skills among the students. The two categories, Health Social Science Research and Health Development Research intend to give recognition to students who conducted exemplary researches in the discipline.

The 8th President of the University of Baguio, Prof. Dhanna Kerina B. Rodas, awarded the winners of the Best Student Health Research 2015 at the University of Baguio Gymnasium during the Graduation Ceremony last December 19, 2015. The following were the winners:

Health Social Science Research Category:

  • First Place: “Effectiveness of foot massage as an anti-anxiety method during dental treatment”
    Researchers: Lesley Rose C. Balcita, Karla Lea D. Borillo, John Lery B. Fernando, Shannah Lee D. Fiasitao, Adonis M. Gajonera, Cindylee L. Jeong, Niloofar N. Kafayati, and Remily Angelou L. Santiago
  • Second Place: “Improving the oral hygiene of daycare pupils through audiovisual presentation and demonstration approach”
    Researchers: Shunoun Dee C. Badongen, Jessa C. Collado, Edrienne James D. Dogui-is, Harlene D. Mendoza, and Shojie K. Mendoza

Health Development Science Research Category:

  • First Place: “The effectiveness of powdered milkfish bone in plaque removal”
    Researchers: Viel Vera D. Casilla, Myline Grace A. Centeno, Marinel P. Cuison, Leira Mae G. Espanto, Lennie Beth K. Saldaen, Grace A. Salinas, Annie Grace U. Urolaza, and Justin B. Yagyagen
  • Second Place: “Isolation and identification of some fungal endophytes in the leaves of red gum eucalyptus (Eucalyptus camaldulensis) in Baguio City”
    Researchers: Audrey Ashvyl T. Agayo, Mariel Roda C. Dismaya, Marianne Angela H. Hermosa, Loreynne Joie L. Komiya, Faye Ann S. Mabanag, and Zara Grace M. Rodriguez

The winners of the competition received certificates (each member of the group) and cash awards. The First place received Php. 5,000.00 and the Second place received Php. 3,500.00. Their advisers was Dr. Maria Lourdes E. Cantor (SD) and Ms. Amelia Aquino (SNS).
