ABSTRACT

This study aimed to assess the development needs of the constituents of Magsaysay, Loakan Proper, Baguio City. It delved into the concerns of the residents as basis for the creation of concrete and sustainable intervention programs that would help alleviate their situation. One hundred five representatives of families permanently residing in the area took part in the study. Data were gathered through interviews with the residents, the barangay officials and other concerned individuals and groups. An open-ended guide questionnaire was employed to facilitate a more organized data-gathering procedure. Data were supplemented through observations. Findings show that many of the residents need medical attention, scholarship and literacy assistance, livelihood, and work opportunities. Results indicate that the constituents need activities that will boost their morale, values and attitudes towards initiative, involvement and participation in community activities. The conduct of medical-dental-laboratory activities, sustainable livelihood trainings and seminars, literacy programs, and activities promoting self-esteem for the residents are possible solutions to these needs.
