ABSTRACT
The study aimed to evaluate A Worktextbook in Differential Calculus, Revised 2010 Edition: Including Board Exam Problems in EE, ME, CE and ECE. Reliability testing of the survey instrument developed using test-retest method indicated high reliability. Results indicate that most respondents “agree” on the worktextbook’s objectives, content and organization, affective aspects and semantics indicating acceptance of the worktextbook. Results of tests between respondents of summer 2011 and first semester SY 2011-2012 gave no significant differences at the 0.05 level suggesting that the worktextbook can be utilized for both terms. Likewise, results of test on the differences on the level of attainment of the course objective deemed it not significant though respondents from first semester SY 2011-2012 posited higher mean ratings as compared to respondents from summer 2011. Respondents determined the worktextbook’s strengths in terms of its intrinsic (content and organization) and extrinsic factors (affective effects) while weaknesses were found in its intrinsic factors. The external evaluator gave high ratings on the objectives, content and organization and semantics. Chapters 1, 6 and 8 were given the lowest in ratings, which indicated necessary revisions. According to the evaluator, the worktextbook has strengths in its intrinsic and extrinsic factors while most suggestions for improvement were intrinsic in nature. The research posited interesting insights in facilitating the teaching-learning process and enabling the achievement of the objectives of the course. The worktextbook is recommended for formal adoption by the university after the suggestions for improvement have been judiciously carried out.
