R & DC rolls out the first seminar for students for 2017

The fourth installment from the 4-series of seminar/training/ workshop for the AY 2016-2017 kicks off IMG_4026this January. The seminar that will capacitate the research students was entitled “Using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) for Research.” A total of 70 students attended the first scheduled training on January 14, 2017, at Rooms F110-F111. The participants were from the School of Allied Medical Sciences, School of Dentistry, School of Accountancy and Business Administration, School of Information Technology and Graduate School.

The expert trainers were Dr. Dyesebel L. Chinayo, and a faculty member of the School of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, and Engr. Victor V. Hafalla Jr. from the School of Engineering and Architecture. Both of them are members of the University Research Board-

The speakers discussed the topics relevant to research writing and interpreting data from the questionnaires. Topics include Introduction to Sampling and Designs, Inferential Statistics, Test on One and Two Sample Means, Chi-square Tests, Non-parametric Tests, and Inferential Statistics.

The students have the opportunity to have a hands-on training and at the same raised queries with their IMG_4012data. In addition to the  SPSS training was provided, the research students may also ask the trainers for their professional advice in the future with regards to the reliability of their data.

In an announcement given during the training, the research students were encouraged to avail of the licensed SPSS usage at the Research Laboratory of the Research and Development Center.
