ABSTRACT

This study looked into the level of seriousness of problems encountered by the student-nurses in their Promotive and Preventive Nursing Care Management Related Learning Experience. A sample of 303 nursing students enrolled in their related learning experience during Summer 2009 was taken as respondents. Findings show that the student-nurses encountered very serious problems related to their clinical requirements, paperwork required, inadequacy of cases to accomplish paperwork, and the distance of hospital affiliates to the campus. The level of seriousness of problems encountered by the student-nurses in their related learning experience did not significantly vary considering the respondents’ gender, year level and shift of hospital duty. The academic performance level of the student-nurses is average. There was a high correlation between the level of seriousness of problems encountered in the related learning experience and the academic performance of the students.
