After the hustle and bustle of the academic year 2015-2016, it is but appropriate to say that rest is needed. Maya Angelou once said: “Each person deserves a day away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions searched for. Each of us needs to withdraw from the cares which will not withdraw from us.” To further put into action the mentioned quote, the Research and Development Team went on a hiatus for two days on June 3-4, 2016 to pave the way for an annual rest and recreation.
The big day starts with a local and homey breakfast at Soledad’s just a few minutes away from the University of Baguio. Afterwards, the group started to travel for the first destination of the day. A short road trip of 45 minutes will take you to Winaca, a little paradise strategically located at Acop, Tublay, Benguet just outside the city of Baguio. The team experienced a one-of-a-kind, thrilling and exhilarating immersion with nature at Winaca Eco-Cultural Village. The group was treated with an eco-tour that highlighted the forest houses found within Benguet and its neighboring provinces. Venturesome and daring activities such as high rope courses of Burma Bridge, swinging bridge and vine walk were done by the group. After those pulse- rating action, the group also tried wall-climbing to reach the tower for zip-line. Another exciting and blood raising activity of mud slide or slide for life was also done by the team.
Shortly after the escapade and energy-draining activities at Winaca, the team proceeded to Al’s Restaurant at La Trinidad, Benguet for a late and heavy lunch.
To unwind more, after the scrumptious lunch, the team further immersed with nature at Bahong Flower Farm otherwise known as the Rose Capital of the Philippines. The R& DC team was treated with rose greenery that is luscious to the eyes.
Later on, after the long-day treat of nature-tripping and strenuous physical activities, the group went to a spa to relax and cool down tired nerves. The group chose Himaya Spa at Legarda Road, Baguio City. The group indulged with foot spa, facial spa, body scrub and whole body massage.
To wrap the day, the group had dinner and sweet-tooth treats at Good Taste Restaurant.
