ABSTRACT

This paper looked into how the University of Baguio practices multicultural education. There were three groups of respondents  namely,  21 Social Science teachers, 183 foreign students, and a sample of  2,050 Filipino students from first year to third year.   Findings reveal that Filipino and foreign students practice much ethnocentrism due to their cultural orientations and the prevailing situations in their places.   Both the Filipino students and the teachers themselves perceive that the three aspects of multicultural education namely content integration, knowledge construction, and equity pedagogy were  much carried out by the teachers, but the foreign students said these were fairly done.  It is in the areas of content integration and equity pedagogy where differences were noted.   Along content integration, both groups signified that the teachers always show respect to individual differences and equal treatment to students regardless of gender.  Furthermore, the University of Baguio has existing but limited provisions to address cultural differences among teachers and students.
